What StockMags Dividend Research is
StockMags Dividend Research is a free starting point for building a repeatable dividend research process. It brings together the annual Dogs of the Dow list, selected Dividend Kings, cached end-of-day prices, sourced dividend declarations and an income worksheet. Use it to identify companies worth investigating, check the evidence and record what you still need to learn before committing money.
The public page is live and free to read. You do not need to buy StockMags Pro to use it. The company lists are research starting points; they are not personalized recommendations or a completed ranking of the safest stocks. Full financial scoring and paid dividend research are still in development.
How to use this page effectively
- Choose your research starting point. Use the 2026 Dogs of the Dow to examine a fixed annual group selected by dividend yield. Use the Dividend Kings examples to explore long records of annual dividend increases. These groups answer different questions, so a stock appearing in either group still needs its own review.
- Check the dates before comparing. Read the price date, dividend declaration date and editorial review date. Cached prices and editorial yield tables can refer to different dates. A price refresh does not update the dividend research or verify that a dividend remains unchanged.
- Open the company source. Confirm the declared dividend, payment schedule and history. Annualized dividends assume the stated regular quarterly rate continues for four quarters. They are estimates, not promises of future payments.
- Review what supports the dividend. Read the latest filings for earnings, cash flow, debt and business risks. Use the editorial questions below as prompts. If payout coverage or valuation is missing, mark it as unresolved rather than treating the missing information as a positive.
- Estimate income with the worksheet. Multiply the annual dividend per share by the number of shares you are considering. Compare that estimate with the amount invested. The monthly equivalent is a budgeting aid; it does not mean the company pays every month.
- Write down your decision and return trigger. Use the Stock Research Decision Journal to record your sources, reasons, open questions and next review date. Revisit the record after a new earnings report, dividend declaration or material business change.
A useful first visit
Start with one company. Read its dividend source, calculate estimated income for a hypothetical share count and write down three unanswered questions. You can finish a useful research session with a decision to investigate further or wait; a purchase is not required.
What to expect when you return
Prices are cached end-of-day quotes, with refresh attempts limited to once every 24 hours. The visible timestamp is the guide to freshness. Dividend declarations, streaks and editorial notes remain dated snapshots until separately reviewed; there is no promised recurring editorial schedule yet. Bookmark this page and check the dates each time you return.
Free now, with a possible paid research service later
The free page helps you build a research habit. A future Dividend Research Pro service could add documented payout coverage, valuation assumptions, company updates and research archives to reduce the work of reviewing candidates. Those features are planned, not available for purchase, and pricing has not been set. The comparison and interest form below explain the direction. Sending an interest request does not enroll you in a paid plan or automatically subscribe you to a newsletter.
A high yield can look attractive while leaving important questions unanswered. If you skip payout coverage, debt and valuation, you can commit money before understanding what supports the income. This page helps you find the evidence and record your next review.
Make this your dividend research bookmark. Return to check cached prices, compare the dated editorial review and update your Decision Journal. Price dates and research dates are displayed separately so you can judge what needs a fresh check.

2026 Dogs of the Dow — Dividend Research
Start with the actual dividend declaration. Compare each annualized rate below with the cached closing price above, then review earnings and cash flow before treating the yield as sustainable income.
Research review: October 3, 2026. These are the ten stocks in the published annual Dogs portfolio, in its original selection order. The quarterly amounts below come from the linked company declarations or filings. Annualized amounts equal the quarterly rate multiplied by four; they are estimates at that rate, not guaranteed future payments. This table is an editorial snapshot and does not change when prices refresh.
| Stock | Quarterly dividend | Annualized rate | Source date |
|---|---|---|---|
| VZ — Verizon | $0.7075 | $2.8300 | 2026-09-09 |
| CVX — Chevron | $1.7800 | $7.1200 | 2026-07-31 |
| MRK — Merck | $0.8500 | $3.4000 | 2026-07-29 |
| AMGN — Amgen | $2.5200 | $10.0800 | 2026-07-30 |
| PG — Procter & Gamble | $1.0885 | $4.3540 | 2026-07-14 |
| KO — Coca-Cola | $0.5300 | $2.1200 | 2026-07-29 |
| UNH — UnitedHealth Group | $2.3200 | $9.2800 | 2026-08-12 |
| HD — Home Depot | $2.3300 | $9.3200 | 2026-08-20 |
| NKE — Nike | $0.4100 | $1.6400 | 2026-08-06 |
| JNJ — Johnson & Johnson | $1.3400 | $5.3600 | 2026-07-15 |
Forward yield can be estimated as annualized dividend ÷ share price × 100. Match your price date to your research date. A rising yield caused by a falling share price requires a fresh review of dividend coverage.
October 3, 2026 editorial update
Price snapshot: October 2, 2026 close. The indicative yields below are StockMags calculations using the company-declared rates above and the cached Marketstack prices. Dividend sources have different publication dates, shown in the declaration table. These figures stay fixed to this dated editorial update even when the price feed changes.
| Ticker | Snapshot close (USD) | Annualized dividend (USD) | Indicative yield |
|---|---|---|---|
| VZ | $45.92 | $2.8300 | 6.16% |
| CVX | $206.69 | $7.1200 | 3.44% |
| MRK | $144.30 | $3.4000 | 2.36% |
| AMGN | $403.04 | $10.0800 | 2.50% |
| PG | $144.91 | $4.3540 | 3.00% |
| KO | $85.65 | $2.1200 | 2.48% |
| UNH | $371.90 | $9.2800 | 2.50% |
| HD | $282.85 | $9.3200 | 3.30% |
| NKE | $33.87 | $1.6400 | 4.84% |
| JNJ | $256.03 | $5.3600 | 2.09% |
How calculated: quarterly regular dividend × 4 ÷ snapshot share price × 100. Special dividends are excluded. Rates assume the quarterly payment continues unchanged. Prices have not been independently reconciled to a second provider.
Editorial interpretation: Verizon and Nike have the highest indicative yields within this fixed ten-stock group at this price snapshot. This calculation measures income relative to price; it does not establish payout safety, undervaluation or a buy recommendation. The annual portfolio membership remains the year-end selection, regardless of subsequent yield changes.
What to check before turning a watchlist into a purchase
| Stocks | Next evidence to examine |
|---|---|
| VZ | Does operating cash flow after capital spending cover common dividends? How much cash is needed for upcoming debt maturities? |
| CVX | Does the payout remain covered under lower commodity prices after capital spending, rather than only at the latest earnings level? |
| MRK, AMGN, JNJ | How do product concentration, patent expirations, development spending and debt affect cash available for dividends? |
| PG, KO | Are cash generation and dividend coverage improving alongside volume, margins and the latest increase? |
| UNH | How do medical costs, operating cash flow and regulated subsidiary distributions affect funds available to the parent company? |
| HD, NKE | Does cash generation support the dividend through weaker consumer demand, inventory changes and required business investment? |
Review discipline: Use the same trailing twelve-month period for dividends, earnings and cash flow. Explain any adjusted figures, retain the filing link and record the next review trigger in the Decision Journal. A dividend declaration confirms a payment decision; it does not prove that future payments are safe.
Dividend Kings editorial check: Fiscal-year and calendar-year streaks are labeled separately in the directory. Cincinnati Financial’s announced October 15 payment is still pending as of this update. Historical streaks support membership research; they do not substitute for a current coverage review.
Dividend Kings: ten source-supported examples
Dividend Kings have increased their regular annual dividends for at least 50 consecutive years. Use the company sources below to examine the record. A long history provides context; it does not guarantee the next dividend.
Sources reviewed October 3, 2026. This starter directory contains ten companies with source-supported records of at least 50 annual dividend increases. It is a selected directory, not an exhaustive list or a buy ranking. The record shown is the company-reported record in the linked document; fiscal-year and calendar-year conventions can differ.
| Stock | Reported growth record | Evidence and date |
|---|---|---|
| AWR — American States Water | 72 | Company homepage; calendar-year record |
| DOV — Dover | 71 | August 7, 2026 announcement |
| GPC — Genuine Parts | 70 | February 17, 2026 announcement |
| NWN — NW Natural Holdings | 70 | October 9, 2025 increase; no assumed 2026 increase |
| PH — Parker Hannifin | 70 fiscal years | April 23, 2026 announcement |
| PG — Procter & Gamble | 70 | April 2026 announcement |
| EMR — Emerson | 69 | 2025 fiscal-year record in December 12, 2025 proxy |
| CINF — Cincinnati Financial | 65 completed; 66th declared | August 21, 2026 release says October 15 payment completes year 66 |
| JNJ — Johnson & Johnson | 64 | April 14, 2026 announcement |
| KO — Coca-Cola | 64 | February 19, 2026 announcement |
Cincinnati Financial’s 66th year is tied to its declared October 15, 2026 payment, which is still upcoming as of this review. Emerson and NW Natural retain the supported 2025 record; an additional year has not been assumed. Review the newest dividend announcements before acting.
Dow Dividend Yield Watchlist
The traditional annual Dogs portfolio uses the previous year-end dividend yields. Its members stay fixed for that calendar year. A current Dow yield screen is different: it compares all 30 current constituents using a common review date and can identify a different group.
Current Dow ranking: in development. The annual Dogs watchlist above is available now. A separate current-yield ranking requires a verified set of all 30 current Dow constituents and their dividend rates on the same review date.
Planned StockMags Top 10 scoring
The scored Top 10 is not available yet. It requires verified payout ratios, leverage, five-year dividend growth and documented fair-value estimates. The following describes the model under development; the tables above do not use this score.
- Payout headroom: 30%
- Leverage: 20%
- Five-year dividend growth: 20%
- Consecutive dividend growth record: 15%
- Discount to an editor’s fair-value estimate: 15%
The score is an original screening heuristic, not a validated forecast of returns or dividend safety. Yield is displayed separately. This version is intended for suitable common stocks; REITs, banks and BDCs need separate models.
Check the research before you act
Review each source and its document date. The dividend tables are editorial snapshots reviewed October 3, 2026; they remain dated until reviewed again. Price refreshes do not verify dividend rates or growth records. Before acting, confirm the newest declaration, earnings and cash-flow coverage, debt obligations and valuation assumptions. The planned scored screen excludes imported financial snapshots older than 45 days.
Skipping these checks can leave you owning a high-yield stock whose payout is weakening. Use the watchlist to focus your research and document what would change your thesis.
Use the StockMags research workflow today
Start with the Income Strength Scanner, examine a company in the Stock Analyzer, then record your evidence and review date in the free Decision Journal. Read each tool’s methodology and data limitations before relying on its output.
Free dividend income worksheet
Use a sourced annual dividend per share, a matching share price and your share count. These calculations estimate income at an unchanged dividend rate and exclude taxes and fees.
| Calculation | Formula | Example: $2 annual dividend, $100 share price, 100 shares |
|---|---|---|
| Annual dividend income | Annual dividend per share × shares owned | $2 × 100 = $200 per year |
| Monthly income equivalent | Annual dividend income ÷ 12 | $200 ÷ 12 = $16.67 |
| Indicative dividend yield | Annual dividend per share ÷ share price × 100 | $2 ÷ $100 × 100 = 2.00% |
| Value of shares at the example price | Share price × shares owned | $100 × 100 = $10,000 |
Try your own research: Copy an annualized rate from the dividend declaration table, use a dated price, then write your share count and estimated annual income in the Decision Journal. Monthly equivalent does not mean the company pays monthly. Your example is a calculation, not a forecast or an investment recommendation.

Dividend Kings and Dogs of the Dow FAQs
What is a Dividend King?
A company with at least 50 consecutive years of regular annual dividend increases. Our starter directory links to company-reported records and labels differences in fiscal-year and calendar-year conventions. It is not a complete list.
What are the Dogs of the Dow?
The traditional annual strategy selects the ten highest-yielding Dow stocks at the previous year-end. The 2026 list uses December 31, 2025 selection yields. The fixed annual list can differ from a current-yield screen.
Are these dividend prices and yields live?
Prices are cached end-of-day quotes, with a market date shown. The editorial yield table is a fixed, dated calculation. Neither is a real-time trading quote.
How do I calculate dividend yield?
Divide the annual dividend per share by the share price, then multiply by 100. For a quarterly payer, the latest regular quarterly rate multiplied by four gives an indicative annualized dividend, assuming the rate continues. Use the income worksheet above to check your own figures.
Does a high yield or a long streak make a dividend safe?
Neither alone establishes safety. Review current earnings and cash-flow coverage, debt, sector conditions and company announcements. A falling share price can raise the quoted yield without improving the dividend.
How often is the research updated?
Scheduled prices are limited to one refresh attempt every 24 hours. Editorial tables show their actual review date and change only after an editorial update. A recurring editorial publication schedule has not been established.
Can I subscribe to Dividend Research Pro now?
Not yet. The interest form helps StockMags learn which deeper research readers would value. No payment is collected here, and the planned dividend features are separate from the existing StockMags Pro offer.
Launch status: The free page is active with the annual 2026 Dogs watchlist, automatic cached price updates, source-linked dividend declarations and a selected Dividend Kings directory. Dividend research is an editorial snapshot reviewed October 3, 2026; prices refresh separately. Full financial scoring, a complete current Dow screen and paid dividend access remain in development.
